Closing

The Tavern's lease expired at the end of December 2011. Property owner Clara Belle Wheeler had told Tavern owner Shelly Gordon she would only give a short-term extension, resulting in Gordon's decision to close at that time[1] Gordon predicted in a 2002 C-Ville Weekly article that the restaurant would only be open for several more years because of changes to the way management was handling relations with Meadowbrook tenants.
