New name?

At some point, this probably should point to Southwood Development or something like that, and maybe have a separate article dedicated to the mobile home park as it was pre-development. --Seantubbs (talk) 10:29, 28 January 2024 (EST)

I've opted to not do this at this point, as most of my edits are driven by updating small pieces based on information I come across. I'm going to take a quick pass at this page right now, and then I'm going to add a piece on Hickory Hope. ---Seantubbs (talk) 13:18, 17 February 2024 (EST)
I'm writing up property transactions now and the county records this as Southwood Village so at some point I'll point all of that over there, but I think there should be a separate page that captures the history of this space as a mobile home park. --09:43, 18 February 2024 (EST)

More Funding for Southwood Apartments

At the tail end of his administration, former Governor Ralph Northam announced additional funding for the Southwood Apartments. This is from the release which may well be deleted from the website in a day or so but I'm placing this here for later: [1]

  • $900,000 (NHTF)
  • $900,000 (VHTF)

Southwood Apartments A will be a new construction of 70 rental units in Albemarle County. These one-, two- and three- bedroom units will be available for households earning between 30% and 60% AMI. Eight units will have project-based vouchers and six units will be designated for permanent supportive housing. Piedmont Housing is working with a partner to include an onsite Head Start program for residents.
