The Central Virginia Santa Fund is a charitable fund that raises money to help low income families with Christmas gifts and meals. Founded in 1894[1], the fund is trying to raise $110,000 for use in 2010[2]. The fund is sponsored by the Daily Progress, WINA-AM and administered by the United Way-Thomas Jefferson Area[2]. Fund distribution is coordinated by school representatives in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson and Orange Counties who help identify children with needs[1].
