Hartnagle-Witt House
The Hartnagle-Witt House at 512-514 West Main Street is a contributing structure in the West Main Architectural Design Review District in Charlottesville. It is also the home of the Blue Moon Diner. See 512-514 West Main Street as the main article. It has been incorporated into the Six Hundred West Main development. [1]
Architectural history
The structure was built in 1884 on land purchased by Andrew Hartnagle.
The portion where the diner is located was constructed in 1949 and was the home of a restaurant called the Waffle House until 1979 when the first incarnation of the Blue Moon Diner began.
Developer Jeffrey Levien sought a demolition permit in late 2015 but were unsuccessful. [2] The Board of Architectural Review was not supportive. [3] The development is taking place without demolition. [citation needed]
