The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association is an international non-profit association that supports defense contractors, military units and other institutions involved in gathering intelligence. A local chapter was formed in March 2009 to represent the growing intelligence sector in the region[1].

Officers for the local chapter were installed in April 2010. In April 2015, the organization hosted a golf event at the Birdwood Golf Course that was attended by local government and industry defense and intelligence professionals. The event supported scholarships and grants for local students and teachers in a variety of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programs.[2]
