Walton Middle School is an Albemarle County public middle school offering classes in sixth through eighth grade. Walton is part of the Southern Feeder Pattern. Walton students attended either Cale Elementary School, Red Hill Elementary School, Scottsville Elementary School, Stone-Robinson Elementary School, or Yancey Elementary School and will continue on to graduate from Monticello High School. As of 2012 Walton has 391 students enrolled and employs 64 staff and faculty members.[1]

History

Walton Middle School was founded in 1974 in rural southern Albemarle County. The school was named for Reverend Leslie H. Walton who, as pastor of the Scottsville Baptist Church, introduced Scottsville to the Boy Scouts of America program in 1908. In 1937, Reverend Walton became principal of the Scottsville School and would go on to be the superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools.[1]
