Virginia State Route 6 is a primary state highway, a portion of which runs east-west through southern Albemarle County.

From the northern terminus at U.S. Route 250 near Rockfish Gap on Afton Mountain in Nelson County, Route 6 runs south through Nelson County just west of the Albemarle County line, becoming concurrent with a portion of U.S. Route 29 in Nelson County.

In Albemarle County, Route 6 travels through Esmont and intersects State Route 20 in Scottsville.

The eventual southern terminus is in Richmond.
