Timothy A. Longo is the associate vice president for safety and security at the University of Virgina, a title that also confers the role of UVA Police Chief. [1]

Longo served as chief of police in Charlottesville from 2001 to 2016. [2] His salary was $134,097.60 in his 10th year as police chief. [2] He also called for a discussion about potential consolidation of public safety agencies in the region. [2]

Longo came to Charlottesville from Baltimore, where he served for many years. [2]

Drop in crime

Total crime in the city dropped from 2,551 incidents in 2000 to 1,848 in 2010. Violent crimes were more than halved, from 364 to 165. [2]
