The Hook is a free weekly newspaper distributed on Thursdays that covers Charlottesville and Albemarle County. Hawes Spencer was the founder and editor from February 2002 to January 2013.[1] The publication is owned by Better Publications LLC[2].

History

Spencer founded The Hook after he was removed from the editor's post at the C-VILLE Weekly[3]. The first issue was published on February 7, 2002.

Community promotions

In 2009, the Hook sponsored the first Charlottesville Restaurant Week[citation needed].
