The Hook is a free weekly newspaper distributed on Thursdays that covers Charlottesville and Albemarle County. The editor and publisher is Hawes Spencer. The publication is owned by Better Publications LLC[1].
History
Spencer founded The Hook after he was removed from the editor's post at the C-VILLE Weekly[2]. The first issue was published on February 7, 2002.
Community promotions
In 2009, the Hook sponsored the first Charlottesville Restaurant Week[citation needed].
