The Gaines Group is an architecture, design, and consulting firm based in Charlottesville. It was founded in 1987 by Raymond Gaines.[1] Its first project was a horse barn. Gaines Group projects include Winterhaven, an assisted living facility; and Stone Creek Village, a residential development, both in Albemarle County.[2]
Gaines’ grandfather, Elmer Burruss, was an architect whose projects included the Albemarle County clerk’s office, Monticello Dairy Building, Hill & Wood Funeral Home and the Ix Project.[1]
