The Fralin Museum of Art

The Fralin Museum of Art maintains a collection of approximately 13,000 objects including: American and European painting, works on paper, and sculpture of the 15th-20th centuries; art from the ancient Mediterranean; Asian art; Native American art. [1]

Matthew McLendon will become director on January 9, 2017. [2]

History

In August 1933, it was announced that the University of Virginia's proposed new art museum was the number one state building priority. The building was the residence of W.M. Lambeth. Renovation of the building was estimated to cost $140,000. [3]
