- 1903 – Col. Thomas Lewis Preston, "one of the oldest residents of Albemarle county", died at 2 o’clock this morning at his home “Wyndhurst,” located on Preston Heights, near the University of Virginia, (aged 91).
- 1906 – Dr. Hugh T. Nelson, Civil War veteran, physician, instructor in clinical surgery at the University of Virginia and for many years an member of the City Council, died (aged 60).
- 1942 – Jury Y. Brown, a former member of the city council and for nearly 40 years a Charlottesville businessman, died.
- 1984 – Faulkner House, a mid 19th century structure in Albemarle County, is listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register.
- 1989 – More than 140 patients were moved through a 700-foot link from the old Multi-story building to the new $230 million, 552-bed University of Virginia Replacement Hospital. Approved by the General Assembly in 1984, it is the largest state-financed construction project in Virginia history, excepting highways.
