  • 1805Thomas Jefferson writes a letter to Littleton W. Tazewell, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates. Jefferson proposes that a university “should not be a house but a village.”
  • 2023 – At the closing of the regular council meeting, Sena Magill announced that that she was resigning from the council to attend to her family. In the 2019 election she received the largest number of votes collected in history by a Charlottesville city council candidate.
