- 1715 – Thomas Walker, Jr. is born.
- 1819 – The General Assembly charters the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Following Thomas Jefferson’s prescription, and unlike most colleges of the time, it will have no religious affiliation and no clergy among its faculty.
- 1900 – The Board of Directors of the Consolidated Ice and Electric Company meet and approve the enlargement of the power plant.
- 1905 – City Council meets to hear a committee report on expanding the city's water supply.
- 2020 – Gene Corrigan, former University of Virginia athletic director, died.
