- 1818 – The General Assembly approves funds for a state university to be called the “University of Virginia,” but with the location unspecified.
- 1927 – Eight cases were heard in Charlottesville’s Police Court today, including “one drunk was fined $10 and a speeder drew a like fine. A person charged with passing a street car while passengers were entering was fined $10.”
- 2011 – Holly Edwards announced that she would not run for re-election to Charlottesville City Council.
