The Scottsville Comprehensive Plan is the general guidebook for which land-use decisions are to be made for the town of Scottsville. It was originally adopted on August 15, 1994 with significant amendments made in 1999, 2002, 2005 and 2008. The document was prepared with assistance from the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission and Albemarle County planning staff.

The plan assumes that the town's population will grow to a range between 800 and 1,000.

Vision

"Scottsville should preserve its small-town character, protect its historic, scenic and natural areas, and be guided by a thoughtful and harmonious development plan which will best promote the well being of its citizens and maintain the quality of life which they now enjoy and which is most important to them[1]."
