Scottsville is a town along the James River located within Albemarle County, having a population of 555 recorded in the 2000 Census. Portions of Scottsville are shared by Buckingham, Fluvanna and Albemarle counties.
History
Originally known as Scott's Landing, Scottsville was founded as a river town with a ferry and to serve as a port on the James River for the batteaux that traveled up and down. The town was officially incorporated in 1818 at the northern-most point of the river[1].
