2018 Council Legislative Meetings This article is an effort to present recorded votes on various high-interest issues brought before the Charlottesville City Council at their 2018] regular meetings. The City of Charlottesville Council is the city's primary legislative body. The council votes on and drafts legislation, approves the city's annual budget and sets the revenue required to fund the budget. Additionally, the council appoints members to boards and commissions and gives the final say on appointments made by the City Manager.

- Mr. Signer commented on conflicts which have led to him missing meetings of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission’s Board of Directors. He said he missed three meetings in a row this year which required the TJPDC to notify Council of his absences. Mr. Signer said personal and family obligations on the night of these specific meetings had led to his absences.

Equity Fund Allocation to New Hill Development Corporation: $500,000
- This item would authorize $500,000 to a start-up nonprofit, New Hill Development Corporation to conduct financial training programs and draft a small area plan for the Starr Hill neighborhood, including the former historical community of Vinegar Hill, towards building Charlottesville’s African-American middle class.
