Rivanna was a small unincorporated community in northern Albemarle County. Rivanna was a predominantly black community, and was the site of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church's original building. During the 1940's, Horace Carter Miller Sr. worked his own farm in the area. The community was impacted by the development of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport in the 1950's.[1]
