- In the fall of 1988, Spurzem argued against historic protection afforded a home at 205 14th Street NW. [2]
- In August 2014, Spurzem held shares of the Charlottesville Parking Center and though the sales price of $34 per share was too low. He had previously sought to purchase the CPC and its assets for $9 million but had been told via letter that shareholders would not accept a sales price of less than $17.5 million. [3]
