Relay is a service that connects customers with local farmers and sources. It was founded in June 2007 by Zack Buckner.[1] The president is Arnie Katz.
In 2011, the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council awarded the company its Rocket Award.[2] In early 2012, the company received $3.1 million in venture capital from Massachusetts-based Battery Ventures.[3]
By 2014, the company had moved from making three deliveries a week in Charlottesville to serving customers in Richmond and metropolitan D.C. with a fleet of over 40 trucks.[4]
