The Pinkerton Slash is a small swamp bordered by a marshy area located off Route 633, 1.1 miles southwest of South Garden in Albemarle County. [1].
It is home to one of only two known stations in the county of Rhus vernix (poison sumac), the only known station of Leucothoe racemosa (swamp fetter-bush), as well as Maianthemum canadense (Canada May-flower), and the rare orchid Platanthera peramoena (purple fringeless orchid).[1]
The area is subject to a conservation easement[2].
The Charlottesville Albemarle Orchid Society has supported the restoration of the area.[citation needed]
