Paul H. Cale served as superintendent of Albemarle County Public Schools from 1947 to 1969. He was in charge during the integration years. Legend says he landed the biggest pike ever caught at Mint Springs, and the fish in question hangs in the office at Cale Elementary School, which is named for him.[1][2]
