The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce established the Paul Goodloe McIntire Citizenship Award in 1975 to celebrate contributions made by a member of the community. The award is named after McIntire, a philanthropist whose contributions to the Charlottesville area in the early 20th century set a high standard[citation needed].
