Northeast Park is a Charlottesville park in the Locust Grove Neighborhood. The 4.8 acres it sits on was acquired in by the city in 1975[1].
Amenities
The park has playground equipment, a basketball court and picnic tables[1].
Location and Access
Northeast Park is located near the center of the Locust Grove neighborhood. It is adjacent to a stream that feeds into Meadow Creek. The park is connected to Marshall Street by a footbridge, St. Charles Avenue by trail and to Calhoun Street and Sheridan Avenue by road.
The trail to St. Charles Avenue winds through the woods on a bed of mulch and was built as a High School Environmental Science Project[citation needed].
Addition of Davis Field
The city will spend in October 2011 $750,000 to purchase 11.3 acres of land adjacent to the park to add to its total size. The purchase of "Davis Field" will allow the city to build at least one rectangular field that will be dedicated to soccer. [2]
