Mike Murphy is a former deputy city manager for human services for the city of Charlottesville.  His retirement was announced in late 2019 several months after Dr. Tarron Richardson became city manager. He remains on the city's payroll through Oct. 31, 2020. 
As part of Richardson's reorganization of city government, Murphy's job title was changed to deputy city manager.
Murphy does not reside in the City of Charlottesville.
