Mike Murphy is a former deputy city manager for human services for the city of Charlottesville. [1] His retirement was announced in late 2019 several months after Dr. Tarron Richardson became city manager. He remains on the city's payroll through Oct. 31, 2020. [2]

Murphy had served as the interim City Manager of Charlottesville on July 31, 2018 following the resignation of Maurice Jones. He had been serving as one of two assistant city managers. [3]

As part of Richardson's reorganization of city government, Murphy's job title was changed to deputy city manager.

Murphy was hired by CFA Institute as their director of community. [citation needed]
