Maurice Jones will be hired as Charlottesville's city manager on December 6, 2010. He has been serving as the acting city manager since April 12, 2010 following the resignation of Gary O'Connell[1]. As of November 23, 2010Jones is one of three finalists in a bid to become the permanent city manager[2].
Biography
Following a stint as a sportscaster for NBC29[3], Jones was first hired by Charlottesville in 1999 to serve as director of communications. In 2005, he stepped down to take a position at the Miller Center of Public Affairs. He returned to the city in February 2008 to become Assistant City Manager[citation needed]. He also worked for NBC29 as a sportscaster before joining city government[4]. As an interim manager, he makes $150,000 a year[3].
