Maurice Jones is the Acting City Manager of Charlottesville. He was elevated to the position on April 12, 2010 following the resignation of Gary O'Connell[1]. Jones is a candidate to become the permanent city manager[2].

Biography

Jones was first hired by Charlottesville in 1999 to serve as director of communications. In 2005, he stepped down to take a position at the Miller Center of Public Affairs. He returned to the city in February 2008 to become Assistant City Manager[citation needed]. He also worked for NBC29 as a sportscaster before joining city government[3].
