Maurice Jones is the Acting City Manager of Charlottesville. He was elevated to the position on April 12, 2010 following the resignation of Gary O'Connell[1]. As of November 23, 2010Jones is one of three finalists in a bid to become the permanent city manager[2].


Biography

Following a stint as a sportscaster for NBC29[3], Jones was first hired by Charlottesville in 1999 to serve as director of communications. In 2005, he stepped down to take a position at the Miller Center of Public Affairs. He returned to the city in February 2008 to become Assistant City Manager[citation needed]. He also worked for NBC29 as a sportscaster before joining city government[4]. As an interim manager, he makes $150,000 a year[3].
