Mark Simpson is the geographical information services (GIS) coordinatorfor the city of Charlottesville. GIS coordinator. He helped launch the city's public GISWEB application in April 2012.[1] He has been in the position since July 2008. Before that he served as a GIS database administrator with the Army National Guard from 2003 to 2008, a position he held after performing the same role for private companies. [citation needed]
