  • The Charlottesville metro area is named in the top 50 places in the country to launch a small business by Money Magazine.[2]
  • The Arbor Day Foundation awards Charlottesville with both a Tree City USA and a "Growth Award"[3].

2004

  • Authors Bert Sperling and Peter Sander selected Charlottesville as the best place to live in the United States in "Cities Ranked and Rated" for the year 2004.[4][5]
