Lawrence Gaughan is an independent candidate for the Rivanna Magisterial District seat on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors. He initially filed a statement of qualifications that indicated he would seek the Democratic nomination. He made his formal announcement at the Bamboo House on April 13, 2015. [1]

He amended his statement on April 16 to indicate he would be an independent. In a statement, Gaughan said he believed local races should be non-partisan. [2]

In 2014, he ran as a Democrat in the Fifth District Congressional Race
