Karen Waters-Wicks is the former executive director of the Quality Community Council. She is a 2003 graduate of the Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership. [citation needed] [1][dead link]

Waters also served at one point as the chair of Charlottesville's Housing Advisory Committee. [citation needed]

Waters also served on the 2004 Charlottesville Elections Study Task Force. [2]

NAACP challenge

In November 2016, Waters-Wicks challenged M. Rick Turner for the presidency of the NAACP Albemarle-Charlottesville Branch but did not succeed. [3]
