John Edward Hall ran for the Charlottesville City Council as an independent candidate in the November 2017 general election. [1] He placed sixth. [2]
He was also a candidate in 2019. He dropped out, but then re-entered the race before the filing deadline. He once again placed last. [3] [4]

Biography
Hall, a design engineer, moved to Charlottesville in 2000 to work in the hematology lab at the University of Virginia. He is a native of Winchester.
In June 2003, he asked Council to appoint him as a security guard and stated that he had been discriminated against because of his mental disability. [5] In September of that year he proposed a new city logo. [6]
