John Bowie Strange
John Bowie Strange (1823-1862) was Colonel of the 19th Virginia Regiment, C. S. A. during the Civil War.  He was killed at the Battle of South Mountain (Maryland) on September 14, 1862. He is buried in Charlottesville's Maplewood Cemetery.
Namesake of the John Bowie Strange Camp of the United Confederate Veterans (UCV) as co-founded in 1889 by R. T. W. Duke, Sr..
