Status Update

VDOT reported in November 2007 that the project has been split into two phases. The first phase will be "from Route 240 to about 0.5 miles east of Route 684" and is now scheduled for advertisement in November of 2010. However, Allan Sumpter warned the Board of Supervisors on January 7, 2009, that the project could be $2 million short due to additional cuts in VDOT's secondary road allocations to localities. As of June 2009 the Right of Way phase was approved and advertisement for construction is planned for January 2011.[1]

Part of Crozet Master Plan, VDOT handling design, a priority on County’s Secondary Six-Year Improvement Program.

According to a staff report prepared for the Board of Supervisors in advance of a March 12, 2008 public hearing on the Six Year Secondary Road Plan, the project has received $6,789,407 in funding from VDOT over previous years. That includes $993,400 in VDOT revenue sharing funds. The balance remaining is $7,865,385. Project may be pushed back further due to continued reductions in state and federal transportation revenues.
