Deaths
- 1893 – William Linn Tidball dies in New York City and is later buried in the Bronx's Woodlawn Cemetery. A writer and veteran of the Mexican-American War, Tidball served as an officer in the Union Army during the Civil War and later was stationed in Charlottesville as the first "Military Commissioner of Albemarle County," overseeing the military government of the area during Reconstruction.
