Jackson-Via Elementary School is a fully accredited child-centered school serving approximately 300 students in preschool through grade four. The school serves portions of Fry's Spring, Ridge Street, South First Street, and Prospect Avenue, as well as Belmont and Willoughby. The community is comprised largely of single-family homes and apartments. Most students ride a bus to school.

Jackson -Via Elementary School is located in the southern portion of the city of Charlottesville. It is near the University of Virginia and Thomas Jefferson's "little mountain," on which Monticello is situated. The school takes its name from two former, eminent Charlottesville educators: Nannie Cox Jackson and Betty Davis Via.

Meeting the needs of all students and providing quality learning experiences are top priorities for the staff at Jackson-Via School. School motto: "As lifelong learners, we do whatever it takes to do our best, to become our best, and to help others reach that goal."
