Hydraulic Road runs from U.S. 250 at the intersection of Rugby Road Extended, crosses U.S. Route 29, and continues northward until it ends at its intersection with Earlysville Road and West Rio Road.

Within the city, the road is one of Charlottesville's Entrance Corridors.
