Henry A. Haden (October 5, 1896-November 14, 1974) was Charlottesville City Auditor, Collector, Purchasing Agent and Clerk of the Council. He was appointed Albemarle County Executive from January 1, 1934 to June 11, 1945.[2] Elected to the City Council on June 8, 1948, he served one term. [3][4]

Henry Addison Haden was born in Crozet, Virginia on October 5, 1896 to Clifton James Haden and Nicie D. Haden. In February 1942, Haden was on the Civilian Defense Council and was the first person to donate to an emergency bloodbank opened at the University of Virginia hospital. [5]

In 1930, Henry and his wife, Margaret, built a two-bay, brick American Foursquare house on Hazel Street, in the Martha Jefferson Neighborhood. [6] In 1961, Haden was president of National Bank and Trust. He was also elected president of the board that ran the birthplace of Thomas Jefferson. [7]

Haden was one of the original board members for Charlottesville Businessman's Association which formed in October 1952. [8]

Haden was a Democratic candidate for City Council in the April 6, 1948 primary. [9] He made his announcement after Charles P. Nash and J. Emmett Gleason announced they would not seek re-election. [10] Haden received the second-highest number of votes. [11]
