Frederick S. Middleton III is the founder and Executive Director of the Southern Environmental Law Center, an environmental advocacy organization, with headquarters in Charlottesville.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Middleton received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and law degree from Yale Law School. He is a nationally recognized[who?] environmental leader and has been in the vanguard of the environmental movement in the United States for 30 years. Middleton is a founding member of the Charlottesville Tomorrow Board of Directors. Middleton resides in Ivy.[1]
