Endorsed by the MPO Policy Board in the Transportation Improvement Program, this was originally a project to widen Fontaine Avenue to 3 lanes in order to increase access to the University of Virginia's Fontaine Research Park. However, the project is currently deferred indefinitely. The most recent design, from September 2005, includes additional sidewalks and bike lanes and only calls for widening of the two-lane sections at two intersections.
