First Night Virginia

First Night Virginia is a non-profit family-oriented celebration of New Year's Eve held annually on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall and surrounding areas.

First Night Virginia is an annual “community celebration of the arts” that began in Charlottesville in 1982 and is the second oldest First Night in the country.[1]

Now one of many such events nationwide, Charlottesville was second only to Boston in launching such an event[2].
