Fifth Street Extended is a major corridor in Albemarle County's growth area and a four-lane divided-highway through residential Charlottesville.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is conducting a corridor-wide study of the area to inform future road improvement projects. [1]

Charlottesville City Council is discussing ways to slow down the road in the city, including the possibility of installing a roundabout north of Bailey Road to slow down traffic. [2]
