- 1864 – Custer crossed the Rivanna near the Earlysville–Charlottesville road and launched a surprise attack against four battalions of the Stuart Horse Artillery Battalion.[1]
- 1980 – Denis O'Brien and the owners of the Mousetrap begin dispute over $5 ticket charged [2]
- 2024 – The Board of Visitors of the University of Virginia vote to change the name of Alderman Library to Shannon Library.[3]
Births
- 1708 – Peter Jefferson is born in Virginia. Jefferson was a prominent cartographer and surveyor within the colony and eventually served as Albemarle County's representative to the House of Burgesses; he was also the father of Thomas Jefferson.
