Esmont (community)

Esmont is an unincorporated section of Albemarle County located seven miles northwest of Scottsville first settled in the mid 18th century[1]. The community is named after a plantation of the same name. A post office was opened towards the end of the 19th century.
In 2010, community groups held a community day[2].
An exhibit on the Black education in the Esmont and southern Albemarle opened in the Yancey School Community Center in February 2021. [3]
