Emergency Communications Center
Tom Berry was named as interim director of the facility on March 11, 2019, following the sudden resignation of Barry C. Nuelen.  Nuelen had only become the organization's new executive director effective October 1, 2018.

The mission of the Emergency Communications Center is to provide quality service to our customers in an expedient and professional manner while respecting the diversity of our community and recognizing that our employees are our most valuable resource.
The ECC is governed by the 10-member Regional Emergency Communications Center Management Board. This group is made up of representatives from the Albemarle County Executive's Office, Charlottesville City Manager's Office, University of Virginia Administration, Albemarle County Police Department, Charlottesville Police Department, University of Virginia Police Department, Charlottesville Fire Department, Albemarle County Fire and Rescue, and one representative from the area rescue squad's Advisory Board.
