Spouse Dr. Charles H. Gleason (1923-2017)

Elizabeth "Betz" B. Gleason was a member of Charlottesville City Council from 1980 to 1988. Elected to the council in 1980, she served as vice-mayor from 1980-1982 and again from 1984-1986.[1]

She was one of three votes on November 16, 1982 to move forward with a second referendum on switching to a ward-based system to elect Councilors. [2]

The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce awarded Gleason with the Paul Goodloe McIntire Citizenship Award in 1990. [3]
